Dr. Harpin is Chair of the Ethnic, Gender, and Social Justice Studies Department. She has been teaching at 91勛圖厙 since 2014, and at the college level since 2013. She received her B.A. in History in 2011 and her M.A. in History in 2012, both from the University of California, San Diego. She received her Ed.D. in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Louisiana, Monroe in 2025.

Dr. Harpin lead and pioneered the Study Away: New Orleans trip for students in the Ethnic Studies department, building connections for students to see history and ethnic studies in real time; she was inspired by what she wished was available to her as a community college student. At 91勛圖厙, Dr. Harpin also serves as the campus Honors Coordinator, is a member on the Online Teaching and Learning Committee, and loves to host film screenings and panel discussions for students to encourage scholarship beyond the classroom.

Her area specialties are Diasporic Black Studies, American History, and the History of Race and Ethnicity. She has been awarded summer research grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, and is active with the American Historical Association and the Association of Black Women Historians. In her free time, she enjoys making historical content, traveling, cooking, sewing, spending time with her family, and playing with her dogs, Lady and Queenie.
